Spring Ford Country Club (Royersford, PA) hosted the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour on Monday, August 16, 2010. 51 players staggered through humid and muggy conditions as they navigated the Par 72/73 ~ 6,706/6,009/5,438 yards long golf course.
Austin Mann (Collegeville, PA) posted the low round of the day and won the Boys 16-18 Division with a 2-over-par 74. Mann finished his round with a birdie on the par 5 18th hole, giving him 1-under-par on his back nine. Tied for second place at 4-over-par 76 were Mike Merana (New Hope, PA), Kevin Webb (Doylestown, PA), and Joshua Yates (Elkton, MD).
Jeremy Royer (Mohnton, PA) won the Boys 13-15 Division by shooting a 79 (+7). Royer’s only birdie of the day came at the par 5 18th hole. Tied at 82 (+10) for second place were Ryan Rucinski (Wilmington, DE) and Kevin Conners (Downingtown, PA).
First place in the Girls 13-18 Division went to Nicole Cavalcante (East Norriton, PA) with an 85 (+12). Cavalcante beat second place finisher Jane Hopkinson-Wood (Warwick, PA) by two strokes. Rounding out the division in third place was Sammie Faraghan (Mt. Lauren, NJ) with a 90 (+17).
There was a tie for first place in the 9 Hole Division between Nathan Guerrini (Collegeville, PA) and Jacob Suder (Greencastle, PA). With Suder and Guerrini both posting 43 (+6), a scorecard playoff was needed to determine the winner. Guerrini won the playoff by shooting lower on the last six holes played. Colefield Smith (West Chester, PA) shot a 47 (+10) to take home third place honors.
