Penn State University’s White Course hosted the second day of the Sky Caddie State College Series on Tuesday, August 10, 2010. An occasional breeze broke up the monotony of warm and humid weather for 43 players to enjoy the par 72 ~ 6,344/6,102/5,615 yards long golf course.
There was tight competition in the Boys 16-18 Division, with Austin Birky (Newtown, PA) and Evan Helbley (Lock Haven, PA) tied for first place at 1-over-par 73. A scorecard playoff of back nine scores declared Birky the winner at 1-under-par 35. Greg Goodreds (Hatboro, PA) posted a 2-over-par 74 for solo third.
Tied at 4-over-par 76 for first place in the Boys 13-15 Division were Peter Clarke (Telford, PA) and John Foley (Limerick, PA). Clarke won the playoff of back nine scores with an even-par 36. Following closely behind in a three-way tie for third place were Garrett Bastardi (Boalsburg, PA), Alex Acciani (Harleysville, PA), and Patrick Nommensen (Media, PA).
In the Girls 13-18 Division, Jordan Glatt (Doylestown, PA) placed first with a 76 (+4). Glatt birdied the 9th and 17th holes, which gave her the 1-shot lead over second place finisher Sara Jackson (State College, PA). Rounding the division out with an 81 (+9) was Kelly Sullivan (Garnet Valley, PA).
Davis Mitchell (Wilmington, DE) shot a 5-over-par 41 for first in the 9 Hole Division for the second consecutive day. Mitchell parred all three par 5’s on the White Course’s back nine. Dawson Anders (Telford, PA) shot 49 (+13) for second place in the division. Ander’s round included a birdie at the par 3 14th hole.
