St. Davids Golf Club (St. Davids, PA) hosted the Philadelphia Junior Tour and 78 players from the Delaware Valley area to tackle the par 70 ~ 6,559/6,234/5,680 yards long golf course. With hot and humid conditions which produced difficult scoring conditions, its safe to say that the Donald Ross designed gem had the upper hand this afternoon.
Ryan Rucinski (Wilmington, DE) posted the low round of the tournament in the Boys 13-15 Division with a 1-over-par round of 71. Rucinski birdied the 4th and 10th holes which lead him to winning by 8 shots over Kevin Conners (Downingtown, PA) and Benjamin Kleiman (St. Davids, PA) who finished in a tie for 2nd place.
Oliver White placed 1st in the Boys 16-18 Division with a 74 (+4) which bettered 3 others in a tie for 2nd place by 1 shot. White recorded 2 birdies on his card including going out with a 35 (E). In a 3-way tie for 2nd place were Brent Pickell (Lancaster, PA), Kevin Webb (Doylestown, PA) and Ryan Walker (St. Davids, PA).
Brynn Walker (St. Davids, PA), Alex Stensland (Wayne, PA) and Jen Kim (Lansdale, PA) all finished with 89 (+19) on their afternoon. To settle their tie, a scorecard playoff was needed which went to their back nine scores for 1st place overall. Walker came in with a 42 (+7) which gave her the slight edge over Stensland and Kim for 1st place.
Results in the 9 Hole Division (Boys & Girls 10-12) could not have been closer for our medalists with each place finishing 1 shot in front of the other. Fortunately for Philip James (Blue Bell, PA) he was on the low side of those numbers with a back nine score of 43 (+8). James carded 2 red numbers on his card which came at the 14th and 18th holes. R. J. Wren (Morgantown, PA) came in 1 shot off the pace set by James but bettered Franca Hurtado (Macungie, PA) by 1 stroke.
