Pennsauken Country Club (Pennsauken, NJ) welcomed 65 players from the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Despite threatening storm clouds, players competed without delay on the par 70 ~ 6,139/5,375 yards long golf course. Lexi Klein (Moorestown, NJ) posted her career low, as well as the low round of the tournament with a 74 (+4), which also earned her first place honors in the Girls 13-18 Division. Klein shot a consistent 37 (+2) on both her front and back nines to beat Kelly Sullivan’s (Garnet Valley, PA) second place 83 (+13). Third place went to Alexis Lo (Mount Laurel, NJ), who shot an 84 (+14).
Tied for first place in the Boys 16-18 Division were Jonathan Rennard (Phoenixville, PA) and Paul Carbone Jr. (Huntingdon Valley, PA) with 76 (+6). A scorecard playoff was needed, which declared Rennard the winner with a back nine score of 37 (+2). Third place also came down to a tie at 77 (+7) between Jim Allen (Media, PA), Joshua Yates (Elkton, MD), and Justin Smith (Jenkintown, PA).
In the Boys 13-15 Division, Patrick Nommensen (Media, PA) shot a five over par 75 for the win. Nommensen’s one birdie on the day came at the par 4 12th hole. In close competition behind Nommensen, Connor Sharp (Philadelphia, PA) took second place with a 77 (+7), and Sam Soeth (Newtown Square, PA) placed third with a 78 (+8).
Alexander Covelli (Cherry Hill, NJ) won the 9 Hole Division with a 42 (+7). Consecutive pars on the 8th and 9th holes helped Covelli secure his win over second place finisher Griffin Smith (Holland, PA) who carded a 46 (+11). Christopher Chiminski (Newtown, PA) followed in third place with a 49 (+14).
