The Philadelphia Junior Tour’s Oakley Dover Series concluded at Maple Dale Country Club (Dover, DE) on July 16, 2010. 52 players competed under clear blue skies and hot temps on the par 72/73 ~ 6,722/6,277/5,433 yards long course.
Nino Rosal (Camden, DE) posted a four over par 76 to win both the Maple Dale tournament and the Oakley Dover Series for the Boys 16-18 Division. Rosal’s back nine score of 37 (+1) solidified his win over Jacob Brawley (Middletown, PA) and Cody Caporaso (Thornton, PA) who both tied with scores of 77 (+5). A scorecard playoff named Caporaso the second place finisher with a 35 (-1) on the back nine.
For the second day in a row, Tyler Cross (Bear, DE) came in with the low round of the tournament and won the Boys 13-15 Division with an even par 72. With six birdies, Cross won the series and beat Stewart Rickenbach, who posted a 77 (+5) to claim second place. Following in third with a score of 79 (+7) was Jon Stewart (Chester Springs, PA).
Emma Sills (Bear, DE) won the Girls 13-18 Division with an 86 (+13), which secured her win for the series as well. Sills’ lone birdie of the day took place at the par 5 sixth which helped her secure a 4 shot victory over Francesca Ruscio (Jamison, PA). Rounding out the top 3 was Taylor Lewis (Millsboro, DE) with a round of 73 (+20).
It was another exciting day for the 9 Hole Division (Boys & Girls 10-12), with R.J. Wren (Morgantown, PA) claiming the final day win with a score of 42 (+5). Wren birdied the par 3 third hole, which ended up giving him the victory. Davis Mitchell (Wilmington, DE) placed second with a 43 (+6), but still maintained a one stroke lead over Wren to win the series. Griffin Colvin (Media, PA) took home third place with a 51 (+14) due to a scorecard playoff win over Brock Maloomian (Lewes, DE).
