Day 1 of the Oakley Dover Series hosted 47 players at Garrisons Lake Golf Club in Smyrna, DE. Despite periods of heavy rainfall, the course drained well and conditions remained playable on the par 72 ~ 6,698/6,262/5,677 yards long golf course. Austin List (Haverford, PA) battled the elements to post a 1 under par 71 and win the Boys 16-18 Division. List had six birdies on his day, which helped him secure the low round. Tied for second behind List were Eric Fagan (Wilmington, DE) and Nino Rosal (Camden, DE) with scores of 75 (+3).
In the Boys 13-15 Division, Ryan Rucinski (Wilmington, DE) won with a 74 (+2). At even par through the turn, two birdies on Rucinski’s back nine helped offset his four bogies for the win. Stewart Rickenbach (Doylestown, PA) and Tyler Cross (Bear, DE) came in behind Rucinski tied at 76 (+4).
Emma Sills (Bear, DE) posted the low round for the Girls 13-18 Division with a 4 over par 76. Sills’ three birdies of the day all came on her back nine, and gave her the momentum for the win over second place finisher Francesca Ruscio (Jamison, PA). Ruscio’s 80 (+8) bettered Taylor Lewis (Millsboro, DE), who came in with a 95 (+23).
The 9 Hole Division saw close competition between first place finisher Davis Mitchell (Wilmington, DE) with a 41 (+5) and R.J. Wren (Morgantown, PA) with his 43 (+7). Mitchell had a one stroke lead going into the ninth hole, and extended his lead to two strokes by finishing with a par. Following in third place was Griffin Colvin (Media, PA) with a 50 (+14).
