(Dresher, PA) - Scott Jaster of Bryn Mawr, PA and Sara Jackson of State College, PA won the 2010 Philadelphia Section Junior PGA Championship on Monday, July 12th at Kennett Square Golf & Country Club in Kennett Square, PA.
By winning the boys’ and girls’ divisions respectively, Jaster and Jackson qualified for the 35th Junior PGA Championship, Aug. 2-5, 2010, at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Jaster, 15, posted a final-round 73 for a two-round total of 146 and won a sudden death playoff on the 1st hole over Brandon Dalinka of Newtown, PA. Jackson, 17, had a final-round 81 for a two-round total of 160 and a 6-stroke victory over Ann Caglioti of Marlton, NJ.
Juniors in the 9 Hole Division (Boys & Girls 10-12) played 18 holes in round 2 of the Philadelphia Section Junior PGA Championship. Davis Mitchell of Wilmington, DE posted an 85 and a 1-stroke victory over Christopher Dalglish of Fort Washington, PA.
The Junior PGA Championship is open to one boy and one girl champion from each of the 41 PGA Sections, winners of the nine PGA Junior Series events and a few other national junior tournaments conducted throughout the year and special invitees who have yet not reached their 19th birthdays and who have not started college.
The Junior PGA Championship has traditionally been a stepping-stone for many of today’s PGA and LPGA Tour professionals as well as current collegiate stars.
