NJ Successfully Defends Jon M. Pritsch Cup

The 4th edition of the Jon M. Pritsch Cup took place on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Roger Rulewich designed Metedeconk National Golf Club (Jackson, NJ). Ryder Cup style matches are played between twelve junior golfers from the Philadelphia Section PGA and twelve junior golfers from the New Jersey Section PGA. These twenty-four players earned their spot by placing themselves at the top of the Player of the Year points race in each section’s Junior Tour. Once each player solidified their position with their respective section’s roster, juniors will play a singles and a four-ball match simultaneously, each worth 1 point, to gain the most points out of the 18 possible points to be earned.

Amole and List Fight Back at Meadowlands

The Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour visited Meadowlands Country Club in Blue Bell, PA on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Rain showers skirted to the south and east of Meadowlands all day while 59 juniors played the par 71 ~ 6,565/6,201/5,716 yards long golf course. Some were trying their luck to position themselves on the Player of the Year points list at the last qualifying venue for the Jr. Tour Championship this Monday, August 23rd, at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.

Carbone, List & Rosal Tie with 74 at Doylestown

Doylestown Country Club (Doylestown, PA) welcomed 70 players from the Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. A refreshing breeze and plenty of shade provided a near-perfect day on the Par 72 ~ 6,589/6,248/5,479 yards long golf course. The Boys 16-18 Division saw a three-way tie for first place at 2-over-par 74. Paul Carbone Jr. (Huntingdon Valley, PA) won the scorecard playoff, which came down to the last six holes played. Also at 74 (+2) were Austin List (Haverford, PA) and Nino Rosal (Camden, DE).

Austin is the MANN at Spring Ford

Spring Ford Country Club (Royersford, PA) hosted the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour on Monday, August 16, 2010. 51 players staggered through humid and muggy conditions as they navigated the Par 72/73 ~ 6,706/6,009/5,438 yards long golf course.
 
Austin Mann (Collegeville, PA) posted the low round of the day and won the Boys 16-18 Division with a 2-over-par 74. Mann finished his round with a birdie on the par 5 18th hole, giving him 1-under-par on his back nine. Tied for second place at 4-over-par 76 were Mike Merana (New Hope, PA), Kevin Webb (Doylestown, PA), and Joshua Yates (Elkton, MD).

Graulich Places 1st at Shawnee Inn

Located right on the Delaware River, Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort hosted 16 Philadelphia Junior Tour players on Friday, August 13, 2010. The juniors played Shawnee’s Red and White Courses, giving the competitors a Par 72 ~ 6,589/6,086/5,789 yards long golf course to play.  
 
The low round of the day was a 5-over-par 77 shot by Jonathan Graulich (Maple Glen, PA). Graulich took home first place honors in the Boys 16-18 Division by playing a steady and consistent even-back nine, with neither birdies nor bogeys. Ty Flagler (North Wales, PA) followed two shots behind at 79 (+7) for second place. Third place went to Rodney Anders (Telford, PA) with an 87 (+15).

Not a Tough Go for Ruscio at Toftrees

The 3rd and final day of the SkyCaddie State College Series concluded at Toftrees Resort Golf Course (State College, PA) on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. 43 players fought for 18 holes of tree lined golf on the par 72 ~ 6,378/5,320 yards long golf course. Not to mention another day of warm and muggy conditions didn’t help the cause.
 
Francesca Ruscio (Jamison, PA) won the Girls 13-18 Division with a 3-over-par 75. Ruscio made a birdie at the par 5 2nd hole, which gave her the crucial one-shot win over Lizzie McGarrigle’s (Wernersville, PA) 76 (+4). Following closely behind at 77 (+5) was third place finisher and series winner Jordan Glatt (Doylestown, PA).

Round 2 SkyCaddie State College Series Complete

Penn State University’s White Course hosted the second day of the Sky Caddie State College Series on Tuesday, August 10, 2010. An occasional breeze broke up the monotony of warm and humid weather for 43 players to enjoy the par 72 ~ 6,344/6,102/5,615 yards long golf course.
 
There was tight competition in the Boys 16-18 Division, with Austin Birky (Newtown, PA) and Evan Helbley (Lock Haven, PA) tied for first place at 1-over-par 73. A scorecard playoff on their back nine scores declared Birky the winner at 1-under-par 35. Greg Goodreds (Hatboro, PA) posted a 2-over-par 74 for solo third.

Glatt and Sawin Tie in 1st Day of State College Series

The Sky Caddie State College series opened with a round at State College Elks Country Club on Monday, August 9, 2010. Under sunny skies, 38 players competed on the par 71 ~ 6,427/6,190/5,178 yards long golf course. The Girls Division saw close competition today, with a tie for first place at 78 (+7) between Caroline Sawin (Haverford, PA) and Jordan Glatt (Doylestown, PA).

Rucisnki, Simply Phenomenal at St Davids

St. Davids Golf Club (St. Davids, PA) hosted the Philadelphia Junior Tour and 78 players from the Delaware Valley area to tackle the par 70 ~ 6,559/6,234/5,680 yards long golf course. With hot and humid conditions which produced difficult scoring conditions, its safe to say that the Donald Ross designed gem had the upper hand this afternoon.
 
Ryan Rucinski (Wilmington, DE) posted the low round of the tournament in the Boys 13-15 Division with a 1-over-par round of 71. Rucinski birdied the 4th and 10th holes which lead him to winning by 8 shots over Kevin Conners (Downingtown, PA) and Benjamin Kleiman (St. Davids, PA) who finished in a tie for 2nd place.

Pogust, Glatt Victors at HH Invite

The 9th Annual Harry Hammond Invitational took place at Penn Oaks Golf Club in West Chester, PA on Friday, August 6, 2010. The tournament is named for PGA Master Professional and Penn Oaks GC Director of Golf, Mr. Harry Hammond, Jr.  Ties for first and third place in the Boys 16-18 Division required two sudden death playoffs. Zachary Pogust (Plymouth Meeting, PA) and Tucker Koch (Malvern, PA) tied for first place at 1-over-par 72.

Nino Rosal Wins Wyncote

82 players came to Wyncote Golf Club (Oxford, PA) on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 to compete in the day’s Philadelphia Junior Tour event. The par 72 ~ 6,690/6,074/5,454 yards long golf course was under cloudy skies with high humidity, and players found the course to be a challenge off the fairway.
 
At 1-over-par, Nino Rosal (Camden, DE) shot a 73 to take first place in the Boys 16-18 Division. Rosal had three birdies on his day, which gave him the lead over the 74 (+2) shot by second place Jake Merana (New Hope, PA). Tied at 75 (+3) for third place were Zachary Pogust (Plymouth Meeting, PA) and Brent Pickell (Lancaster, PA).

Berman Seeks Par at Linfield

Linfield National Golf Club (Linfield, PA) welcomed 57 Philadelphia Junior Tour players to an afternoon start on Tuesday, August 3, 2010. Tight competition and numerous ties occurred on the par 71 ~ 6,365/6,014/5,479 yards long golf course. Cole Berman (Rosemont, PA) shot even par 71 to take first place in the Boys 13-15 Division and post the low round of the tournament. Berman came in 1-under on his back nine, with two birdies on the par 4 13th and 18th holes.

Shattuck Doesn't Disappoint at Concord CC

Philadelphia Junior Tour players enjoyed a respite from 90+ degree temperatures at Concord Country Club (Concordville, PA) on Monday, August 2, 2010. The 6,410/5,796/5,478 yards long golf course saw intense competition and several even or below par scores.
Braden Shattuck (Aston, PA) shot the low round of the tournament with a 4-under-par 67, consequently winning the Boys 13-15 Division. Shattuck finished strong by birdying the par 4 17th hole, and eagling the par 5 18th. Second place went to Jalen Griffin (Ambler, PA) with a 2-over-par 73, which beat out the 76 (+5) posted by third place finisher Tyler Cross (Bear, DE).

White, Right Below Par at Spring Mill

On Tuesday, July 29, 2010, Spring Mill Country Club (Ivyland, PA) dodged scattered thunderstorms all afternoon in the Delaware Valley area and 78 players were able to complete their round of golf. The beautifully manicured par 72 ~ 6,626/6,289/5,589 yards long golf course treated all junior golfers to hot and humid conditions.

Oakley Pocono Series Concluded at Valley CC

The 3rd and final day of the Oakley Pocono Series concluded at the A.W. Tillinghast designed Valley Country Club (Sugarloaf, PA) on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. The par 71 ~ 6,218/5,432 yards long golf course had both ideal playing and weather conditions for the Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour members.
 
Austin List (Haverford, PA) took full advantage of the opportunity to post a 3-under-par 68, winning the Boys 16-18 Division and posting the low round of the day. List made five birdies on the day, including both par 5’s on the back nine. Shooting even par 71 for a second place finish was Donald DeRemer, Jr. (Shavertown, PA).  Jonathan Graulich (Maple Glen, PA), Tanner Curley (Boalsburg, PA) and Michael Napkori (Nanticoke, PA) tied for third place at 3-over-par 74.

Ceresko Breaks Par at Sand Springs

Day 2 of the Pocono Series took place at Sand Springs Country Club (Drums, PA) where 29 players enjoyed beautiful weather and great scoring conditions. The par 72 ~ 6,390/6,035/5,145 yards long golf course held its own against top junior golfers from the Philadelphia Section PGA. Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, PA) posted the low round of the tournament and 1st place in the Girls 13-18 Division with a 1-under-par round of 71. Ceresko carded 3 red numbers on her round including going out with a 35 (-1) on her front nine. Nicole Cavalante (East Norriton, PA) placed 2nd with 78 (+6) which bettered Beverly Pike (York, PA) by 4 shots. Pocono Series Begins at Huntsville

Huntsville Golf Club (Lehman, PA) welcomed the Philadelphia Junior Tour and 38 players with open arms and kicked off the 2010 Pocono Series. The par 72 ~ 6, 477/6,127/5,396 yards long golf course did not yield many low scores but Austin List (Haverford, PA) was an exception. List posted the low round in the Boys 16-18 Division and the tournament with a round of 74 (+2). Some highlights to mention on List’s round were his birdies on the 7th, 10th and 14th holes. Jonathan Burns (Hatfield, PA) came in 2nd place with 78 (+6) which bettered 3rd place finisher Evan Leas (Shavertown, PA) by 1 shot. 18th Hole Drama at Morgan Hill

Overcast skies provided a bit of relief from the heat as 54 players made the trek around The Club at Morgan Hill (Easton, PA) on Friday, July 23, 2010.  The par 71 ~ 6,322/5,934/5,166 yards long golf course was a great challenge of championship golf for the Philadelphia Junior Tour players.
 
Raleigh Chapin (Doylestown, PA) and Mike Merana (New Hope, PA) tied for first place in the Boys 16-18 Division with 74 (+3).  In the scorecard playoff, the competition came down to the last hole, with Chapin narrowly beating out Merana with a par on the 18th.  Geordie Lukas (Chester Springs, PA) took third place in the division with a 5-over-par 76.

Nommensen Goes Low at Honeybrook

86 players visited Honeybrook Golf Club on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 to compete in the summer heat. The juniors played the par 70 ~ 6,341/6,031/5,406 yards long golf course in the early morning, and were able to avoid some of the intense midday temperatures. View More

InKLEINed to Win at Pennsauken CC

Pennsauken Country Club (Pennsauken, NJ) welcomed 65 players from the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Despite threatening storm clouds, players competed without delay on the par 70 ~ 6,139/5,375 yards long golf course. Lexi Klein (Moorestown, NJ) posted her career low, as well as the low round of the tournament with a 74 (+4), which also earned her first place honors in the Girls 13-18 Division. Klein shot a consistent 37 (+2) on both her front and back nines to beat Kelly Sullivan’s (Garnet Valley, PA) second place 83 (+13). Third place went to Alexis Lo (Mount Laurel, NJ), who shot an 84 (+14).

Medford Lakes Country Club (Medford Lakes, NJ) hosted the Philadelphia Junior Tour and 45 players to the par 71/72 ~ 6,141/5,409 yards long golf course.  Morning thunderstorms delayed play for 1 hour and 42 minutes with skies clearing shortly after the break in play to allow for a warm but pleasant afternoon. Oakley Dover Series Concluded at Maple Dale

The Philadelphia Junior Tour’s Oakley Dover Series concluded at Maple Dale Country Club (Dover, DE) on July 16, 2010. 52 players competed under clear blue skies and hot temps on the par 72/73 ~ 6,722/6,277/5,433 yards long course.
 
Nino Rosal (Camden, DE) posted a four over par 76 to win both the Maple Dale tournament and the Oakley Dover Series for the Boys 16-18 Division. Rosal’s back nine score of 37 (+1) solidified his win over Jacob Brawley (Middletown, PA) and Cody Caporaso (Thornton, PA) who both tied with scores of 77 (+5). A scorecard playoff named Caporaso the second place finisher with a 35 (-1) on the back nine.

Everyone Caught in CROSSfire

Day 2 of the Rehoboth Beach Series took place at Wild Quail Golf & Country Club (Wyoming, DE) on Thursday, July 15, 2010. Sunny skies finally brought dry conditions to the par 72 ~ 6,392/5,871/5,149 yards long golf course.
 
Paul Carbone Jr. (Huntingdon Valley, PA) and Austin List (Haverford, PA) tied for first place in the Boys 16-18 Division with one under par scores of 71. A scorecard playoff was needed to break the tie, and List’s three consecutive birdies on the 15th, 16th, and 17th holes gave him the win with a back nine score of 33 (-3). Wild Quail member Nino Rosal (Camden, DE) shot an even par 72 to capture third place.

List Pumps his Fist at Garrisons Lake

Day 1 of the Oakley Dover Series hosted 47 players at Garrisons Lake Golf Club in Smyrna, DE.  Despite periods of heavy rainfall, the course drained well and conditions remained playable on the par 72 ~ 6,698/6,262/5,677 yards long golf course.  Austin List (Haverford, PA) battled the elements to post a 1 under par 71 and win the Boys 16-18 Division.  List had six birdies on his day, which helped him secure the low round.  Tied for second behind List were Eric Fagan (Wilmington, DE) and Nino Rosal (Camden, DE) with scores of 75 (+3).

Jaster, Jackson Capture 2010 Philadelphia Section Junior PGA Championship

(Dresher, PA) Scott Jaster of Bryn Mawr, PA and Sara Jackson of State College, PA won the 2010 Philadelphia Section Junior PGA Championship on Monday, July 12th at Kennett Square Golf & Country Club in Kennett Square, PA. 
By winning the boys’ and girls’ divisions respectively, Jaster and Jackson qualified for the 35th Junior PGA Championship, Aug. 2-5, 2010, at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
