The 3rd and final day of the Oakley Pocono Series concluded at the A.W. Tillinghast designed Valley Country Club (Sugarloaf, PA) on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. The par 71 ~ 6,218/5,432 yards long golf course had both ideal playing and weather conditions for the Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour members.
Austin List (Haverford, PA) took full advantage of the opportunity to post a 3-under-par 68, winning the Boys 16-18 Division and posting the low round of the day. List made five birdies on the day, including both par 5’s on the back nine. Shooting even par 71 for a second place finish was Donald DeRemer, Jr. (Shavertown, PA). Jonathan Graulich (Maple Glen, PA), Tanner Curley (Boalsburg, PA) and Michael Napkori (Nanticoke, PA) tied for third place at 3-over-par 74.
Cole Berman (Rosemont, PA) came from behind to win the series for the Boys 13-15 Division by placing first with a 3-over-par 74. Four of Berman’s five birdies came on his back nine, which placed him above second place finisher Joseph Markmann (Doylestown, PA) who shot a 78 (+7). Third place went to Patrick Nommensen (Media, PA) with a 79 (+8).
Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, PA) was successful in winning all 3 events in the Girls 13-18 Division for the Oakley Pocono Series. One highlight to mention on Ceresko’s round was when she holed out from 80 yards for eagle on the par 5 14th. Beverly Pike (York, PA) finished 1 shot off the pace set by Ceresko which bettered Francesca Ruscio (Jamison, PA) by 4 shots.
In the 9 Hole Division, R.J. Wren (Morgantown, PA) posted a 43 (+8) to take home first place honors in the tournament and win the series in his division. Wren kicked his round off with a birdie on the par 5 1st hole. Following three shots behind Wren for second place was William Mirams (Stroudsburg, PA) with a 46 (+11). In his first tournament on tour, Jacob Suder (Greencastle, PA) posted a 47 (+12) to take home third place honors.
